Possible Success??!

After flailing around with 43 unsuccessful attempts on starting my toe-up socks, I finally feel that maybe, juuuuuuust maybe that I have started a sock that will actually fit a human foot as opposed to a giant. I am a wee paranoid that it's too big. I mean, it seems to fit me well. They're comparable in size to other socks I've knit and are smaller than my crappy store bought socks. However I am making them for a friend who has slightly smaller feet than I. Oh well, hopefully she'll appreciate the effort made even if they flap around when she walks.

Don't sweat it. Negative ease works both ways. If it's too wide, make the sock shorter. Want proof? Put that puppy on and if it's a bit loose, pull on your circs back toward you heel and tell me if it doesn't tighten up.

You'll be fine.

That is totally true. I made a pair once that was almost an inch too wide. So I made it about an inch (maybe an inch-and-a-half) too short, and damn if that thing didn't just fit like a glove!

OOOh - good idea! I'm in the same boat as you, Jacquie...they fit me with just a bit neg ease, width-wise, but I'm concerned since my sister has a smaller foot. Lookin' good, girlfriend!

Excellent suggestion! I will try that for sure.

Thanks for all the encouragement!

Another vote here on the 'If they're too wide make 'em shorter' poll! I did that very thing to my first sock of the Snarkalong. Fits like a... like a sock!
